Fingering Acoustic schematic Non-specialist introduction
to acoustic impedance |
This may be compared with the fingering for F5, but with two register holes. It may also be considered as the trill fingering for D#6 (C#6 to D#6) with enough cross fingering to flatten it approximately a semitone. The 2nd and 1st minima, respectively, correspond to these pitches. Note that the harmonics of both pitches are approximately supported as well.
You can hear the multiphonic D5 & F5 played by Geoffrey Collins.
Acoustic measurements are available for these flutes - modern B, modern C, classical C, classical D, classical flared, baroque Sound clips are available for modern B, classical flared and baroque |
